Maja Malec is an Assistant Professor at the Philosophy Department of the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana, since 2019. Before she worked for a few years as an adjunct in the department.
In 2010 she obtained a PhD degree in Philosophy at the Central European University in Budapest. The title of her dissertation is The Essential/Accidental Distinction in Contemporary Metaphysics: The Modal and Definitional Characterizations. She completed her undergraduate and graduate studies in Philosophy at the Philosophy Department of the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana.
Her main research interest is modality, specifically its metaphysical, epistemic, and logical aspects as well as how the conception of modality changed over time. She is also investigating how different philosophers from the Antiquity to present day understood nature, the world, and humans’ place in it.
