The course offers an overview of the Avant-garde creativity from Italian Futurism, through DADA, German Expressionism, Russian Avant-garde (Futurism, Productionism, Constructivism, Proletkult) to Zenitism and Surrealism and their influence on Slovene Avant-garde, where special emphasis is given to Kosovel's Constructivism.
It also centres on the concept and historical development of individual avant-garde genres, especially their dehierarchisation. It lays out their diversity as to motifs and subject matters. It also deals with the problematic of Slovene Avant-garde. It especially emphasises the intermedial character of historical Avant-garde and its Post-avantgarde continuation after WW II.
