The study of syntax from the prescriptive, descriptive and functionalist points of view.
Syntactic structure of phrases (verb phrase, noun phrase, adjective phrase, adverb phrase and prepositional phrase).
Simple sentence: sentence elements (type and realization), semantic roles, agreement, constituent order.
Basic English sentence patterns.
Marked sentence patterns (extraposition, existential sentences, cleft sentences).
Negation.
Coordination and subordination.
Types of subordinate clauses according to form and function.
Complex-compound sentence.
English-specific features of syntactic structures which are a potential source of difficulties for Slovene native speakers.
