The course contains two parts: 1) Review of the history of Slovenian dialectology (authors, works) with a focus on the current state of dialectal research and presentation of the fundamental (Slovenian) dialect projects in different research centers. The meaning and use of the results in other disciplines. Re-transcribing of dialectal texts. Basic instructions for dialectal field research. 2) Overview of Slovenian dialects and dialect groups with an emphasis on diachronic insight into the accent, phonological and morphological development features. Determination of systemness (and possible non-systemic deviations) of the discussed topics in selected local dialects and their functional granularity. Seminar paper may consider the history of Slovenian dialectology or particular local speech.
