Content

In the 21st century the question of the relation between philosophy and humanities poses itself in an essentially different way than in the past, namely in comparison with the changes of the comprehension of humanity, culture, science and society. In view of its origin and purpose philosophy certainly cannot limit itself solely onto the domain of humanities, as far as by this term only a field in (the system of) science is meant. Contrarily, we should envisage this as a historical signification of humanity itself, which is essentially determined by the faculty of speech. The relation between philosophy and humanities thusly establishes itself upon the ability to talk about everything that can partake in sense.
